Introduction to Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) was held on Wednesday morning, July 15, 2005 at MH 235. It was a part of the Department of Computer Science week-long event in welcoming the freshmen and immersing them in its culture.
The event was attended by three UnPLUG members. One acted as an emcee, one was for moral support, and the last one was for the main talk. The talk was just a simple one, only consisting of an introduction to FOSS, told through an analogy using a bakery.
It can be said that Introduction to FOSS was one of the more successful events of UnPLUG. It had more audience and the interaction was lively. Furthermore, one member of the audience went on to become a good member of the organization.
